YUMSUK Receives NUC Approval for New Programs – Yusuf Maitama Sule University Kano (YUMSUK) receives NUC approval for new programs.

With effect from the 2021/2022 academic session, the National Universities Commission (NUC) has awarded Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano clearance to begin new undergraduate and postgraduate programs on the university’s Main Campus.

The permission notification was included in a letter dated March 15, 2022, delivered to the university’s Vice-Chancellor and signed for the Executive Secretary by the NUC’s Director of Academic Planning, Dr. N. B. Saliu.

MSc. Accounting, MAF (Master of Accounting and Finance), PGD (Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting and Finance), B.Sc. Taxation, B.Sc. Industrial Chemistry, B.Sc. Cyber Security, B.Sc. Software Engineering, and B.Sc. Industrial Mathematics is among the recognized programs.

The clearance does not include the part-time method of delivery of undergraduate programs, according to the statement, and all programs will use the authorized names and nomenclatures, with any changes requiring the Commission’s consent.

The NUC also evaluated and authorized the division of the Arts and Social Science Education Department into:

  1. Educational Foundation: Early Child Education (B.A. Ed)
  2. Educational Foundation: Guidance and Counselling (B.A. Ed.)
  3. Curriculum and Instruction: Educational Technology (B. Ed.).

The Department of Science and Technical Education was split onto:

  1. Building Technology (B.Ed. (Tech.)
  2. Electrical/Electronic Technology (B.Ed. (Tech.).
