GLF/YIL Young African Landscape Leadership Program 2022

Do you have a track record of promoting sustainability for Africa’s landscapes, seascapes, and people? Do you want to be a member of a worldwide community of friends using the landscapes method to promote sustainable and equitable land management? The GLF/YIL Young African Landscape Leadership Program 2022 is now accepting applications.

The Global Landscapes Forum (GLF), in collaboration with the Youth in Landscapes Initiative (YIL), is launching the first-ever “Young African Landscape Leadership” initiative, an eight-month program that will include networking events, regional debates, seminars, and more.

Benefits

  • During networking sessions in May, October, and December, make connections with other inspiring young African leaders.
  • Join regional dialogues, two-hour sessions developed by regional youth to address significant problems for regional youth ahead of the United Nations COP27 climate summit in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt in November 2022.
  • The Landscape Leadership Workshop is a must-attend event. The date, agenda, and structure will be announced later this year.
  • Receive emails with job openings in your area on a regular basis.
  • Get frequent updates and reminders about GLF operations throughout Africa (e.g. interviews with experts, Landscape News articles, Landscape TV episodes).
  • Receive a complimentary ticket to all digital GLF events throughout the year and actively participate in GLF Africa 2022.
  • Participate in the WhatsApp community.
  • After attending 80 percent of the engagements, you’ll receive a participation certificate and a ticket for the Landscape Leadership massive online open course (MOOC).

Young African Landscape Leadership Program | Eligibility Criteria

Any African student or young professional between the ages of 18 and 35 (including African residents, persons born in Africa, and those from the African diaspora) who:

  • Has a keen interest in the landscapes and seascapes of Africa;
  • And is pursuing or has just completed a degree in environmental sciences, landscape conservation and restoration, sustainable development, or another similar discipline, or has a strong love for sustainability;
  • And is willing and able to participate in scheduled activities on a regular basis.

How to Apply for the Young African Landscape Leadership Program

You can start preparing the following items before you begin the application process:

  • A one-minute video answering the topic, “What role do you think young Africans have in supporting fair and sustainable landscapes?”
