Wiki Loves Africa 2022 – Home and Habitat ($2,000 prize)

Wiki Loves Africa 2022 is now accepting applications.

Wiki Loves Africa is an annual contest in which anybody from anywhere in Africa can donate material to Wikimedia Commons for use on Wikipedia and other Wikimedia Foundation project websites.

Participants in Wiki Loves Africa are encouraged to provide material (photographs, video, and audio) that represent the year’s subject. The theme varies from year to year. The community chooses the subject each year, which is global, aesthetically rich, and culturally distinct (for example, markets, rites of passage, festivals, public art, cuisine, natural history, urbanity, daily life, notable persons, etc).

2022 Theme – Home and Habitat

Visual depictions of home and habitat are requested for the topic Home and Habitat. The topic honors the diversity and uniqueness of the areas and places that both people and animals call home. Those dens, nests, burrows, and caverns, as well as their quarters, accommodations, rooms, addresses, and places. People and animals may relax, heal, rest, reconnect with family and community, and completely express themselves, their preferences, identity, and heritage in these sanctuaries of safety and tranquility.

Prizes

Quality entries are eligible for a number of prizes, both at the national and international levels. Wiki Loves Africa has six primary prize categories at the worldwide level.
