However, the University of Abuja was founded in 1990 has a “mini campus” conducting lectures on a primary school in Gwagwalada.

After the establishment of the university.

It has to be relocated to the newly approved permanent campus of the institution which covers about 1,800 hectares of land along Airport Road, Abuja.

The Admission Requirements into The University of Abuja

If you are seeking admission into the university of Abuja.

It will be proper you know what are the university requirements for a particular area of study.

Here are the admission requirements for new students seeking admission into the University of Abuja.

  • You must possess SSCE or its equivalents with Credit in 5 subjects including Maths and English (not more than two sittings).
  • Must have score 180 and above in just recently concluded JAMB or a Diploma, NCE with at least lower credit.

Here are the admission requirements for direct entry (level 200) into the university of Abuja.

  • You must possess SSCE or its equivalent with Credit in 5 subjects including Maths and English (not more than two sittings).
  • Have completed your National Diploma or NCE from accredited polytechnic or college with at least an upper credit.
  • Must have applied for direct entry with Jamb.

The Admission Requirements for Postgraduates School in the University of Abuja

If you are looking forward to a postgraduate degree, either Master’s, postgraduate diploma, or a doctorate degree.

The University of Abuja has certain requirements for applicants seeking admission into this area of study.

However, here are the general requirements for admission into the University of Abuja postgraduate schools;

  • You must have possessed O’ level results with at least 5 credits in Maths and English and three other subjects.
  • Candidates applying for masters degree programmes must obtain at least second class lower division in the relevant discipline.
  • Prospective candidates for Ph.D. programmes must obtain a minimum average score of 60% in their Master’s degree.
  • Candidates seeking admission into the Postgraduate Diploma programme must possess a University degree with a minimum grade of a third class, or HND grade with a minimum of  Lower Credit.
  • Candidates are also advised to prepare for an oral screening or interview as well as a written examination.

Here are the full admission requirements for the Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) at the University of Abuja.

  • You must have obtained at least (5) credits including English Language and Mathematics.
  • Your obtained certificate cannot be more than two sittings.
  • Your high school certificate must be WAM.Sc/SSCE/NECO/GCE (Ordinary Level) or their equivalent.
  • Candidates seeking admission into any of the Postgraduate Diploma Programmes must possess a University degree with a minimum grade of third class or HND with a minimum of Lower Credit.
  • Only the programmes of the Centre for Gender Security Studies and Youth Advancement and the Institute of Education have a Part-Time segment.

  • Candidate applying for the M.A., M.EPhD., M. Eng., MVPH, MVPM, and M.M.Sc. degree in any field must have obtained a Bachelor’s degree with at least second-class lower division in the relevant discipline.
  • MBBS, BDS is required for MPH Community Medicine while a health-related degree is required for MPH Sexual and Reproductive Health.
  • Candidates applying for a master’s degree in Economics should have a minimum CGPA of 3.00.

  • You must have obtained at least (5) credits including English Language and Mathematics.
  • Your obtained certificate cannot be more than two sittings.
  • Your high school certificate must be WAM.Sc/SSCE/NECO/GCE (Ordinary Level) or their equivalent.
  • Candidate for Ph.Ph.D. in any Programme of the University of Abuja must have obtained a minimum weighted average M.Score of 60% (4 points) letter grade “B” average performance in the Master’s Degree.
  • Candidate applying for the Ph.D. with a Master’s Degree from any other University, who, in his/her Masters study had not previously taken the compulsory courses or their equivalent, similar to the courses in the University of Abuja shall, on admission, be required to offer and pass such courses with a minimum of 60% (4 points) or a letter grade “B”.
  • Lastly, you are to attach a maximum of 500 words research proposal.
