UNESCO Internship Programme for young Professionals 2022

If you want to work in the fields of education, science, or culture, an internship with UNESCO is a great way to get started.

The UNESCO Internship Program provides you with hands-on experience in one of the organization’s key areas. Apart from assisting you in comprehending the Organization’s mission, programs, and major thrusts, it also improves your academic knowledge by providing you with relevant work projects that may assist you in preparing for your future profession.

You may apply for an internship if you meet the following criteria:

  • Before beginning the assignment, you have finished full-time university studies (bachelor’s degree or equivalent) at a university or similar institution; or
  • At the time of application, you are enrolled in a graduate program (second university degree or Master’s degree or equivalent, or higher); or
  • Within the past 12 months, you have received a university degree (first or second degree as specified above).
  • Applicants for secretarial/assistant or technical/professional positions must be enrolled in a secretarial school or a specialized technical/professional institution and must be in their last year of study or have just graduated (within the past 12 months).

Requirement for Application:

  • To apply, you must be at least 20 years old.
  • Languages: You should have a strong knowledge of English or French, both written and spoken. Working knowledge of the other language (English or French) is advantageous, and it may be needed for internships in secretarial and assistantship positions at the headquarters.
  • Computer skills: You should have a thorough understanding of computer systems and office applications.
  • Team player: You should be able to operate effectively in a group setting and adapt to a global working environment.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills: You should be able to communicate well with others.

The application procedure is as follows:

  • Visas: Make sure you have all of the required visas.
  • Travel: You must plan and fund your trip to the location where your internship will take place.
  • Medical insurance: You must provide evidence of comprehensive health insurance that is valid in the nation where you will be interning and for the duration of your internship. UNESCO will only offer limited insurance coverage throughout the internship term, up to USD 30,000, against the danger of sickness, incapacity, or death.
  • Medical certificate: You must submit a medical certificate confirming that you are fit to work before starting your internship.
    ID/Enrolment Certificate/Diploma (if you have just recently graduated)

Prior to making an application

  • Before you fill out the application form, make sure you have your motivation letter and resume available. You just have one hour to complete the task.
  • All fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required.
  • In order to apply, you must use either English or French.
  • You are only permitted to submit one application.
  • An internship usually lasts between two and six months.
    Interns at UNESCO are not paid. Internship duties are not compensated in any way, either financially or otherwise.
  • Even if you are qualified, there is no assurance that you will be placed. We get more quality applicant applications than we can fill.
  • Your application will be seen by UNESCO managers all around the globe, and it will be stored in our database for six months.
  • We do not reply to every single applicant. If you are chosen, the manager will contact you personally. If you haven’t heard anything in six months, it’s because your application was unsuccessful.
