TRACE is accepting proposals for the TRACE Prize for Bribery Reporting in the United States in 2022.

The TRACE Prize for Investigative Reporting honors investigative reporting that exposes business-related bribery and financial fraud in order to improve commercial openness and good governance.

Worth of Award

  • A cash reward of $10,000 will be awarded to each of the two winners.
  • TRACE will organize an award ceremony, and the reporter(s) will be invited.
  • The judges have the option of naming up to two honorable mentions, each of whom will earn $1,000.

Eligibility

  • Nominees may be print, broadcast, or internet journalists from any nation who have looked into commercial bribery schemes, company operations that generate major conflicts of interest, or other commercial misbehavior.
  • Multiple submissions per author and team entries are allowed.
  • Entries that are longer than a book are not accepted.

How to Apply TRACE Prize for Reporting Bribery

Submission Guidelines

  • The bribery or financial wrongdoing must be tied to business.
  • You have the option of submitting your own work or nominating someone else’s. If you want to nominate someone else’s work, make sure you have their permission first.
  • In 2021, entries must have appeared in print, online, or on television. Any entry that was not authored or produced in English must include a translation.
  • No books will be accepted.
  • Please attach a scan of any entries that were only published in print. If a scan yields an ambiguous result, please additionally provide a transcript of the article (Word document or PDF).
  • Please offer a link or file if your submission is about broadcast journalism (TV, radio, or internet video).

Deadline: Submissions for applications for the TRACE Prize for Investigative Reporting will be accepted through January 31, 2022.
