The college which is affiliated with Obafemi Awolowo University is a federal government higher institution located along the Ore Ondo route, in Ondo State.
Adeyemi college was founded and established in 1963, commenced operations on 22 May 1964 with 93 students; 24 women and 69 men.
It was named after one of the earliest educationists in Yorubaland and Anglican priest, Canon M. C. Adeyemi in recognition of his immense contribution to educational development in then Ondo Province.
Currently, the school is made up of five schools; Arts and Social Sciences, Education, Languages, Sciences, and Vocational and Technical Education with a total of 28 academic departments.
2. Federal College of Education, Zaria.
Federal College of Education, Zaria, previously known as Northern Secondary School of Teachers is a college of science and art situated in Zaria, Nigeria, and established by the Government of Nigeria on the 1st of January 1962 and permitted operations to begin in May 1963.
Federal College of Education, Zaria was established with the vision to be a cradle of Teacher Education aspiring to meet the demands of modern challenges through renewed ideas based on global best practices in teaching and learning, harnessing its local, national, and international potentials and the mission to train teachers for the service of the dynamic society through renewed research and acceptable global practices in the teaching profession.
3. Niger State College of Education, Minna

Niger State College of Education, Minna was established at Minna in 1975 when there was a desperate need for primary and secondary school teachers and became an operational, educational college in 1983.
The college offers several courses leading to the award of Nigeria Certificate in Education, Certificate. Diploma and Degree.
There are six colleges in the school, namely; literature, technology, education, and social justice; which are made up of a total of 32 divisions.
The vision is a college of Education with full capacity and facilities capable of ensuring conventional University standards and levels of teachers for the development of the education sector and manpower of Niger State while the core mission is to be recognized as a center of excellence in higher education and to re-strategize as a center of excellence in higher education and to training, for quality education and sustainable rejuvenation of the education system to meet the development yearnings of the people of Niger State.
4. Federal College of Education (Special) Oyo
Federal College of Education (Special) Oyo was established on 5 October 1977 as Federal Advanced Teacher’s college (Special) for the handicapped students of Nigeria.
It has the largest accumulation of handicapped students that could be found in any higher institution in Nigeria.
The largest concentration of specialized facilities for teaching and training of teachers of the Handicapped in Nigeria.
It is important to note that the college is the only one of its kind in Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa. How amazing is that?
It wasn’t until 1993/1994 that the school stood on its own and started to grant NCE certificates.
5. Federal College of Education, Kano.
Federal College of Education, Kano which has the fifth place on our list is a college of art and Sciences based in Kano State, established by the North Region Government of Nigeria in collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in 1961 as Advance Training College Kano and later taken over by the Nigerian government in 1990 when it finally became, Federal College of Education.
The university is located along the Kofar Famfo road in the state of Kano.
The college of education is made up of various departments like; Arts and social sciences, culture, cultural, research, and technical education and even offer graduate programs (B.Ed., Diploma, ED / NCE) and part-time studies available although the graduate courses are offered in the Zaria University of Ahmadu Bello.
Unfortunately, in September 2014 Boko Haram attacked the college which led to the loss of life of so many including the students and the staff of the college.
6. Federal College of Education, Abeokuta
Federal College of Education, Abeokuta is an autonomous public institution authorized with the issuance of a National Certificate in Education (NCE) to successful graduating students.
The school which was established in 1976 is situated in the Osiele area of the state capital Abeokuta.
The federal college is known as one of the best in Nigeria because it delivers 3 full-year and 5-year courses to the Nigerian Education Certificate (NCE) prize and the fact that it runs three programmes: the NCE, a degree in affiliation with the University of Ibadan and Lagos State University, and PGDE.
7. College of Education, Warri.
This is a state-owned and managed college of education established in December 1979 in Benin City and later moved in December 1980 under Federal Government instruction to Warri, Delta State, Nigeria.
The college has produced a lot of quality teachers since it came into existence. Students are trained to become excellent teachers to be useful to the educational sector and Nigeria at large.
The college has no religious affiliation in the sense that it admits students from different parts of the country irrespective of their ethnic and religious background.
The cost to study here is also very affordable and it even provides some other facilities for her students, like accommodation.

8. Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo
Emmanuel Alayande College of Education is one of the best colleges in Nigeria established by the Church Mission Society in 1896 originally as St. Andrew’s College.
The college was initially kickstarted as a Grade II school for teachers but was eventually upgraded to a college of education.
As of now, it offers NCE certificates and has five schools which are; arts and social sciences, training, languages, professional and technical education, and science.
9. College of Education, Agbor
This College of Education was established in May 1979 but officially opened in August 1981.
In 2006, it became an associate college of the University of Delta State, Abraka.
The school is currently made up of six schools and various departments.
10. College of Education, Ikere
This College of Education which is the last but not the least in our list was founded on December 5, 1977, and is located at Ikere, Ekiti State, Nigeria.
The college of education which was affiliated with Obafemi Awolowo University and currently affiliated with the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) was primarily conceived as a training center for teachers of Technical Education.
The college was set up with the objectives; to provide facilities for learning and to give instruction and training in such branches of knowledge as the College may desire to foster and in doing so to enable students to obtain the advantage of liberal education, to provide courses of instruction and training to teacher education for either sex without distinction of race, tribe or creed, for the purpose of producing well qualified non graduate and graduate nursery, primary and secondary school teachers, to provided in-service training for all grades of teachers, to conduct and promote research into the theory and practice of education in all its ramifications, and to disseminate results of such research to educational institutions and establishments in and outside the State through publications and other means, to undertake curriculum development, to arrange conferences, seminars, study groups, symposia and such other activities to enhance effective teaching and learning, to undertake any other activities appropriate for a College of Education or as may be directed from time to time.
