Smart Cities and AI PhD Studentship at Coventry University in UK 2022

For the academic year 2022/23, Coventry University is accepting applications for a Smart Cities and AI PhD Studentship in the UK.

Smart Cities and AI PhD Studentship

This multidisciplinary project intends to close a research gap in the ethical development of novel data-driven solutions for Smart Cities. Facial recognition technologies, which are intended to reduce crime rates but have been demonstrated to unjustly target some groups, are one well-known concern connected to this study. After more than a decade of debate, the required standards for ethical AI deployment have been agreed upon.

As a result, this research will adopt a practice-based approach, combining humanities and social science techniques. Of course, this is done with the knowledge of computer science and engineering. The goal is to find concrete ways to improve ethics in practice in the context of Smart Cities and AI development.

Worth of Scholarship

This is a fully financed studentship, which includes both tuition and a stipend or bursary.
