Shanghai Government Scholarship for International Students 2022

For the academic year 2022/23, the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission is accepting applications for the Shanghai Government Scholarship for International Students.

The goal of this program is to promote international collaboration and communication while also recruiting more exceptional foreign students to Shanghai to study. It was developed to support exceptional overseas students who wish to study in Shanghai’s higher education institutions.

Worth of Scholarship

There are two types of Shanghai Government Scholarships available.

Type A (Full scholarship): includes tuition, living expenses, and medical insurance for the duration of the study period. It was created to help deserving students apply for postgraduate, undergraduate, and pre-college programs valued 59,200 yuan to 66,200 yuan.

Type B (Partial scholarship): covers tuition and health insurance for the duration of the program. It was created to provide financial assistance to outstanding prospective students applying for postgraduate and undergraduate programs worth between 20,800 and 27,800 yuan.

Furthermore, philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, and management are classified as Classification 1; science, engineering, and agriculture are classified as Classification 2; while medical and art are classified as Classification 3.

Shanghai Government Scholarship | Eligibility Criteria

  • The candidate must be a healthy non-Chinese citizen.
  • He or she must be applying to undergraduate programs, have a high school diploma or higher, and be under the age of 25.
  • The candidate for the pre-college program must have completed high school and have received a letter of pre-admission to an undergraduate program from a Shanghai university.
  • In a similar spirit, the candidate should
  • be a standout student in the classroom
  • have a good command of the language

In general, the candidate should have an HSK4 level of Chinese and fulfill the university’s and program’s language criteria.

S/he must also fulfill the university’s and program’s admissions standards.

It is vital to remember, however, that applicants who have won any other scholarships from the Chinese government or organizations are unable to apply for SGS.
