The Saraswati Dalmia Scholarship in Indian Art for International Students in the UK is open for applications for the academic year 2022/23 at SOAS University of London.

Saraswati Dalmia Scholarship

Saraswati Dalmia, a scholar, and poet who contributed to India’s movement for independence is the recipient of this award. While she continued to conduct social work, she also urged and supported women to take action via her poetry, which she did with tremendous insight and wisdom. Her Hindi poetry and prose took on new shapes as a result of her inspired work.

Worth of Scholarship

One scholarship is available, with a maximum value of £5,353 as a contribution to fees. This scholarship is limited to a year.

Saraswati Dalmia Scholarship | Eligibility Criteria


  • This award is accessible to candidates from the United States, the European Union, and other countries.
  • Applicants should have a strong academic record, often a 2.1 or above in their undergraduate degree. They must generally have received a Merit or Distinction in their Masters Degree or hope to get one.
  • New candidates to the MPhil/PhD program (new admissions beginning September 2022) must meet the following requirements.
  • By the time the Scholarship Panel meets to examine applications, you should have received a solid offer to study.
  • Have proved that their study is in the area of Indian art from 1500 to the present day in their application for admission’s research plan. Those who do research on the subject of modern and contemporary Indian art will be given priority.
  • As soon as feasible, but no later than June 2, 2022, they must meet the English language requirement of their offer of admission to study at SOAS. If your offer is conditional on your ability to communicate in English, please schedule an English test as soon as possible to guarantee you satisfy the English criteria.

Please keep in mind that most scholarships do not cover the cost of pre-sessionals or even allow for them.

Applicants are equally expected to provide

  • up-to-date academic transcripts from your college/university studies (with official translations from the institution or provided by a recognized translator if not in English)
  • copies of your diplomas (certificates of completion) (with official translations from the institution or provided by a recognized translator if not in English)
    proof of your English language ability or your desire to take a certified English Language Test
  • one reference – confidentially submitted by your referee.
