The postdoctoral Fellowships Program at NSERC in Canada is currently accepting applications from qualified candidates for the year 2022.

The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada is accepting applications for its Postdoctoral Fellowships Program for the academic year 2022/23.

The Postdoctoral Fellowship (PDF) program supports a select group of the world’s most talented scholars at a critical juncture in their careers. The fellowships also aim to provide a steady supply of highly skilled Canadians. Canadian business, government, and academic organizations are Canadians with cutting-edge scientific and research talents.

Worth of Award: The fellowships’ program is worth $45,000 per year for two years.

Postdoctoral Fellowships Program Eligibility

To be considered eligible for support, as of the deadline date of the year in which you apply, you must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent residence As of the application deadline, you must be a protected person under paragraph 95(2) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada).
  • Acquire or anticipate holding a PhD in one of the NSERC-supported research domains.

Furthermore, you

  • May apply to NSERC, CIHR, or SSHRC for a maximum of one scholarship (Master’s or Doctoral) or fellowship every academic year.
  • Must not have previously earned a postdoctoral fellowship from NSERC, CIHR, or SSHRC (including a Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship).
  • Must have completed all doctorate degree requirements no more than two years prior to September 1 of the year in which you apply.
