2. Petroleum Development Fund Scholarship.

The Petroleum Development Fund scholarship is the second scholarship available for polytechnic students.

If you are currently enrolled in any polytechnic in Nigeria then you are eligible to apply for this scholarship.

However, The scholarship award is not only for polytechnic students.

But other students in colleges of education and universities in Nigeria are as well eligible to apply.

Nevertheless, The Petroleum Development Fund (PDF) is a foundation that aims at educating Nigerian citizens.

Their major focus is on Nigerian students with low financial capability and from low-income backgrounds.

Besides, the scholarship is offered yearly to students in Nigeria.

3. Lagos State Government Scholarship

The Lagos State Government Scholarship is a scholarship award for only Lagos state citizens (the Lagosian).

For you to be eligible for this scholarship award, you must first be a Lagos State indigene studying in any higher institution.

Then you can move forward to purchase the scholarship form for ₦2,000.

This can be done through the Office of Special Adviser on Education, Alausa, the Secretariat, Ikeja.

However, you must be a brilliant student currently graded at 3.0 and above GCPA.

The scholarship is worth ₦200,000 for the polytechnic students but university students receive a higher amount.

Besides, part-time applicants are not eligible for the scholarship award.

4. NNPC/Total Scholarship Award

The NNPC/ Total Scholarship is always open to Nigerian undergraduate students.

As a polytechnic student, you are also eligible for the scholarship award.

However, candidates must be full-time Nigerian students currently enrolled in any Nigerian polytechnics.

Besides, you must be in your ND 1 at the time of submitting your application.

The scholarship offer will require you to upload your admission letter.

Moreover, your minimum CGPA must be 2.5 and above. HND applicant is not eligible to apply for this scholarship award.

The NNPC/Total scholarship worth ₦200,000 will be paid to you

5. NNPC/Addax Petroleum Scholarships

The NNPC/Addax Petroleum Scholarships is a recognized scholarship for polytechnic students in Nigeria.

However, there are two major categories for the Addax Petroleum Development (Nigerian) Limited scholarships.

Those scholarships are Namely:

  • The Host Communities Merit Award 
  • The National Merit  Awards

The first category of Merit Award called “The Host Community Merit Award” is specifically for the NNPC Oil communities state.

The list of those communities are

  • Akwa Ibom State
  • Rivers State, and
  • Imo State.

Please, do understand that this category of the scholarship is strictly open to applicants who are indigenes of those states.

The second category is “The National Merit  Awards“.

This category of scholarship scheme awards is open to all applicants in the country.

This means that students currently enrolled in any polytechnic are eligible to apply. But there are more requirements you need to meet before submitting your application.

The scholarship worth is N100,000 paid yearly during your study duration.

The University Student at level 100 will be awarded the scholarship for the duration of four to five years.

While Polytechnic students looking for Polytechnic scholarships will be awarded the scholarship for the duration of two years.

Please, do note that it’s only for the Ordinary National Diploma OND (2years).

However, students currently enrolled in their HND – Higher National Diploma are not eligible to apply.

6. Gani Fawehinmi Undergraduate Scholarship

Gani Fawehinmi Undergraduate Scholarship is for Nigerian students in both polytechnic and university.

However, the organization aim at sponsoring 20 students in a different field for the duration of the study year.

It was in 2018 that the scholarship board announced their two million contributions to the Nigerian students yearly.

Each year, a student will receive N100,000 as the scholarship worth for that session with no subsequent renewal.

However, 20 students from different polytechnic and universities in Nigeria will win the scholarship award each year.

For you to be eligible for the Gani Fawehinmi Undergraduate Scholarship

You need to meet the following requirements:

  • Be a full-time student currently enrolled in any polytechnics in Nigeria.
  • Have a good academic result.
  • The applicant must be from a low economic background.
  • All courses in polytechnics are eligible for the scholarship.

How to Apply For The Gani Fawehinmi Undergraduate Scholarship?

To apply for Gani Fawehinmi Undergraduate Scholarship each year.

Applicant must submit their application letter of not more than 2 pages to the scholarship board office.

However, the scholarship board office is located in Abuja, Lagos, and Imo State respectively.

Your letter must first address the scholarship board with your full names, course of study, and current year of study.

In addition to that, your letter must as well mention your state of origin and local government of origin.

Nevertheless, for your scholarship letter to stand out from the rest, you must write your letter with correct grammar.

You can use this tool called “Grammarly” to check your grammar.

The body of your letter must as well state why the scholarship board should choose you for the award.

After you must have written your scholarship letter with all to the end, you need to attach the letter with other documents in an A4 size envelope.

7. MTN Foundation Scholarships

MTN Foundation Scholarship is the next in the mind of most students.

The scholarship is for full-time second-year students studying in public tertiary institutions (universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education) in Nigeria. 

It’s for full-time second-year students studying in polytechnics in Nigeria.

Eligible students must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 and above and must maintain this until graduation to retain the scholarship.

A maximum of 500 qualified and successful full-time Nigerian students studying science and technology-related courses are awarded the scholarship which covers tuition, book allowance, and stipends.

There are Many Courses that are eligible for the MTN Scholarships Award.

However, the Courses are carefully listed below for any polytechnic Students who wish to apply.

  • Architectural Technology

This scholarship is open to full-time Ordinary National Diploma 2 (ND2) students in polytechnic.

Another main requirement is that you must be a Nigerian citizen living in Nigeria.

Over 500 MTN Scholars are selected each year to receive this N20O,000 scholarship.

This will cover tuition fees, accommodation, and book allowance.

It is renewable provided the scholar maintains a CGPA of 3.0 or its equivalent.

You’re also enrolled in the MTN Foundation Alumni.

This is where Scholars are close to getting a job from MTN and continuing their careers in the desired field chosen by MTN.

MTN Foundation Scholarship Requirement?

  • Applicants from public Polytechnics must have a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 (upper credit) from the Ordinary National Diploma (OND) programme.
  • You must also have secured admission into the Higher National Diploma programme.
  • valid student ID card.
  • Means of identification (National ID card, International passport, or Driver’s license)
  • Admission letter from JAMB and institution of study
  • Admission letter for the HND programs (only applicable to HND students)
