Orygen Global Youth Mental Health Advocacy Fellowship 2022
The Orygen Global Youth Mental Health Advocacy Fellowship 2022/2023 is currently accepting applications.
The Orygen Global Youth Mental Health Advocacy Fellowship is a seven-month online program for up to 16 young people from all over the world who are enthusiastic about youth mental health and want to make a difference in their country’s mental health landscape.
The fellowship was created to help young people develop their abilities, skills, and voices in order to improve mental health awareness, policy, and system reform.
It will provide fellows with a variety of skills and give assistance in further developing their adolescent mental health advocacy project plan, which will be tailored to their communities’ needs.
The fellowship modules are organized around the five components of the Global Youth Mental Health Advocacy Toolkit, which Orygen created in collaboration with the World Economic Forum as part of the Global Youth Mental Health Partnership initiative.
Modes of Learning
The fellowship will consist of five modes of learning:
- The fellowship’s education modules will provide as a platform for developing knowledge and insights for mental health advocacy. Lectures, panel discussions, and/or practical workshops will make up each of the five education modules. The majority of these will be live. Each lesson will build on the previous one and will place a significant focus on peer interaction. The following subjects will be covered in education modules:
- Module 1: Defining mental ill-health, advocacy and personal development;
- Module 2: Safety in advocacy and sharing your personal mental health story;
- Module 3: Preparing for advocacy and developing a proposal for change;
- Module 4-5: Doing advocacy; and
- Module 6: After advocacy, creating sustainable change.
Expert mentoring: is a place for fellows to acquire skills and expertise that are targeted to their individual learning requirements. These skills and knowledge will assist the fellow in obtaining the resources and networks necessary to carry out their change proposal. Mentoring will take place on a monthly basis, with the fellow and mentor meeting in a lively, intimate, and casual setting.
Peer mentoring is a valuable opportunity for fellows to provide strategic and emotional support to one another. Fellows from various backgrounds and locations will be partnered up and meet once a month.
Contact with worldwide leaders in youth mental health: In addition to the effect of executing their own proposal for change, fellows will have the opportunity to network with global leaders in youth mental health.
Experiential learning, which enables fellows to connect with Orygen’s existing work, is one component of the fellowship.
Financial Support
- Financial support for participation in the fellowship will be discussed on a case by case basis with successful applicants.
