On the 16th and 17th, of February 2022, the Republic of Palau will host the seventh Our Ocean Conference.
The Our Ocean Conference will be held for the first time by a tiny island developing state.
“Our Ocean, Our People, Our Prosperity” will be the topic of next year’s conference, which will draw on Palau’s rich history as an ocean civilization and concentrate on islander viewpoints and methods to safeguard the health of our ocean.
The 7th Our Ocean Conference will be a watershed moment for nations, public society, businesses, and youth to commit to actual and meaningful ocean protection activities.
Our Ocean 2022 will highlight the efforts of young leaders who are inventing and pushing to conserve our oceans, recognizing that the link to our ocean must be nourished with each generation.

Open to fearless young leaders who are able to:
- Are between the ages of 18 and 30.
- Make a good difference in at least one of the following areas of action:
Advancing Marine Protected Areas for Communities, Ecosystems & Climate
Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) that are well-designed and well-managed are well-known mechanisms for biodiversity conservation and management.
They are, however, becoming more recognized for their contributions to other aspects of sustainable development, such as climate action and food security.
Tackling Marine Pollution
‘Floating rubbish patches’ and ocean dead zones have sparked global concern as evidence of humanity’s influence on the environment.
Food security, human health, and marine biodiversity are all threatened by marine pollution, which includes plastics.
Confronting the Ocean-Climate Crisis
The impact of climate change on our ocean is becoming more evident.
Our ocean’s role in both reducing and responding to climate change is becoming more widely recognized.
Creating Sustainable Blue Economies
Our ocean has been considered an endless resource for far too long.
Failures to enable regeneration, like other resources, are failures of planning and management, as well as a failure to adequately account for the resource’s economic and social worth.
Advancing Sustainable Fisheries
Our ocean will become a more important source of healthy food for humanity, but a third of all targeted fish stocks are overfished.
Fish sustainability, livelihoods, and safety are all threatened by illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing.
Achieving a Safe & Secure Ocean
All too often, our ocean is a dangerous place where human rights and security are elusive.
Through the involvement of people from all walks of life, achieving a safe and secure ocean will protect the communities that are most vulnerable and reliant on it.
