Nyerere Postgraduate Scholarship at University of Edinburgh 2022

For the academic year 2022/23, the Centre of African Studies is accepting applications for the Nyerere Postgraduate Scholarship for excellent Tanzanian students.

Nyerere Postgraduate Scholarship

The Nyerere Scholarships give money to bright Tanzanian students to study at the University of Edinburgh, following in Nyerere’s footsteps. The Centre will award a one-year postgraduate scholarship thanks to the generosity of a donor. This will be given to a Tanzanian student who wishes to pursue a Master’s degree at the Centre.

Worth of Scholarship

  • The scholarship will cover tuition fees as well as a £13,500 yearly stipend.

Nyerere Postgraduate Scholarship | Eligibility Criteria

  • The award will be given to a Tanzanian student who has been admitted to the MSc in Africa and International Development on a full-time basis.
  • The scholarship will be given out based on academic achievement.
  • Candidates must possess, or intend to receive, the equivalent of a UK first-class or 2.1 Honours degree in a Humanities or Social Science discipline at the undergraduate level.

How to Apply for the Nyerere Postgraduate Scholarship

For the scholarship application, candidates must submit a Personal Statement that clearly states why they are applying for this grant. It should include your background and goals in the fields of Africa and international development.

In addition, candidates must arrange for two references to provide letters of recommendation in support of their application.

Please keep in mind that the Nyerere Scholarship cannot be used in conjunction with any other scholarship funds.
