The National Universities Commission (NUC) has ranked the University of Ibadan (UI) the best university in Nigeria and the top federal university in its latest 2022.

The ranking, which was done on the basis of 12 factors, involved 113 universities from all over Nigeria.

The institutions were ranked based on the google scholar index, the total number of full-time students, the ratio of students and staff, their efficiency, the number of international students, and their contribution to the knowledge economy.

Other criteria include the percentage of programs with full-time accreditation, the percentage of international staff, and all citations per capita, among others.

It became an independent university in 1963, and it is the oldest degree-granting institution in Nigeria.
