The goal of every young person is to have a profession that he would love, and that, of course, would pay his bills.

But achieving this is not just about dreaming about it.

One has to work hard to make it happen.

There are steps you would have to take to make your dream profession come true.

One of such steps is to attain a qualification that would certify and empower you to go into the profession you love so you can profit from it.

To obtain such a qualification would require you to go to a university.

There are many universities that you can choose from.

You can decide to study abroad or study here in Nigeria.

You can also decide to study in a public or a private university.

Whichever one you choose, you would be well on your way to achieving your dream professional qualification with it.

On the other hand, you could choose to attend an open university.

This would help you achieve the same goal.

What is an open university really about?

An open university, according to Wikipedia, is a university with an open-door policy with minimal or no entry requirements.

Such universities may employ specific methods, such as open learning or distance education.

This, however, does not apply to all open universities.

Open universities provide flexible and innovative teaching as well as world-leading research.

You may think that the qualification offered by an open university is not regarded. However, it is.

Is there an open university in Nigeria?

Are you now wondering if there is an open university in Nigeria?

Of course, there is.

The open university here in Nigeria has its headquarters in Abuja.

It is the first open university in the whole of West Africa.

The school was established in 1983, and currently has about 515,000 students with Prof. Olufemi A. Peters as the Vice-Chancellor.

As of now, the school has over 75 study centers throughout the country and offers over 50 programs and 150 courses.

The requirements for admission into the National open university are not stringent as opposed to other universities.

Unlike before when most of the students were mature adults, these days, there are more new undergraduates aged between 17-25 years.

Through recent efforts, students of the Nigerian Open University (NOUN) are now allowed to serve the nation through the NYSC.

Law students too can now go straight to Law school after graduation.

NOUN has increased access to education.

With this educational platform, those who have work, age, or physical limitations can also go to school.

Even prison inmates can too.

There are benefits to attending an open university.

One of these benefits is the school’s immunity to strikes.

The freedom to attend school from wherever you are is another advantage.

Final Thought on National Open University School Fees for 2022

While reading, you would have observed the fee increase from the current fees.

The increase in fees was explained by the Director of Lagos Study Center, Dr. Olubiyi Adewale.

According to him, the fee increase was necessary to help the school that takes care of the incoming e-facilitation platform.

This e-facilitation platform was to be tagged learn.

This increase, however, is a minor one (of just N7,500, only) and shouldn’t be a deterrent to your going to this school.

In fact, NOUN is one of the cheapest schools in Nigeria, if you consider it.

And this is even with the increase.

The new e-facilitation is a good and welcome innovation of the school.

Already, more than 760,000 students have logged into the iLearn portal.

Most of them have even commended the initiative and the idea behind it.

Such an initiative as the iLearn is now a global standard for open universities.

This initiative will mostly benefit students, as it will make learning easier and better.

This information has been updated for the 2022/2023 session.

You should try to visit your NOUN study center before making your payment.

I hope that this publication helps your decision.

And, more so, guide you as you go about making your fee payment.

Feel free to share this post with whoever else you think may need it.
