NASU-SSANU Sets to Embark on Indefinite Strike

As the deadline for the Joint Action Committee’s (JAC) warning strike, which includes the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), approaches, the unions have decided to go on an indefinite strike if their demands are not met.

In a press conference on Wednesday, April 13, JAC’s spokesman, Dr. Peters Adeyemi, announced the union will go on indefinite strike when the two-week extension of the existing warning strike expires on April 24.

Adeyemi, on the other hand, stipulated criteria for the suspension of their strike, including the elimination of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (PPS), as well as the payment of the N30 billion Earned Allowances stipulated in the FGN/NASU and SSANU 2009 Agreements.

He went on to say that JAC resorted to going on an extended strike after sending over ten letters to the federal government as a reminder of the persisting problem but received no response.
