MIT Solve Global Challenges 2022 – The Care Economy

The MIT Solve Global Challenges 2022 – The Care Economy is now accepting applications.

MIT Solve Global Challenges 2022

The MIT Solve community is searching for eight technology-based solutions that will assist care workers to find safe and secure jobs, as well as make care for young children, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities more accessible and inexpensive in all settings.

As a result, Solve looks for solutions that:

  • Improve care workers’ access to training and certifications, as well as transferable benefits and labor groups.
  • Ensure that care workers, particularly migrant or domestic employees whose labor may be exploited, have fair working conditions and fundamental rights.
  • Enable innovative childcare or eldercare models that are more affordable, convenient, and trustworthy in the community.
  • Reduce misconceptions about gender roles in order to establish care work as a widely valued career.

Special Call: Black & Brown Innovators program

The bulk of the US care workforce is made up of Black and Latinx individuals, primarily women, who face systemic inequities. In the United States, communities of color frequently have limited access to inexpensive formal care for their own loved ones. As part of Solve’s ongoing work on racial fairness in the United States, the Black & Brown Innovators Program will pick 1-2 solutions from the United States that are striving to solve these gaps.
