MENA Scholarship Programme (MSP) in The Netherlands 2022

The MENA Scholarship Programme (or MSP) grants scholarships to professionals from 10 countries in the Middle East and North Africa.

The scholarships may be used for short courses in the Netherlands that last up to 90 days.

The MENA Scholarship Programme (MSP) enables professionals from ten selected countries to participate in a short course in the Netherlands.

The overall aim of the MSP is to contribute to the democratic transition in the participating countries

It also aims at building capacity within organizations, by enabling employees to take part in short courses in various fields of study.

There are scholarships available for short courses with a duration of two to twelve weeks.

Requirements for MENA Scholarship Programme

Who is eligible for the MENA Scholarship Program:

  • Must be a citizen of, and working and residing in, one of the nations included on the current MSP country list;
  • Must include an employer’s statement in the format EP-Nuffic has given. All facts and promises mentioned in the format must be presented and approved in the statement;
  • You must not be hired by a company that has its own employee development program. For example, the following organizations are regarded to have their unique ways of employee development:
  • businesses with global reach (e.g. Shell, Unilever, Microsoft),
  • major national and/or international corporations,
  • Organizations that provide bilateral assistance (e.g. USAID, DFID, Danida, Sida, Dutch ministry of Foreign affairs, FinAid, AusAid, ADC, SwissAid),
  • Organisation of multilateral donors (e.g. a UN organization, the World Bank, the IMF, Asian Development Bank, African Development Bank, IADB),
  • worldwide non-governmental organizations (e.g. Oxfam, Plan, Care);
  • must have a valid passport that is valid for at least three months after the candidate’s submission date;
  • a government statement that satisfies the standards of the nation in which the employer is located (if applicable);
  • At the time of the grant application, you must be under 45 years old.

Target group

Professionals between the ages of 45 who are nationals of and work in one of the approved countries make up the MSP target group.

Individuals are given scholarships, but the applicant’s need for training must be proved in the context of the organization for which he or she works.

The training must aid the organization’s capacity development.

As a result, candidates must be sponsored by their employers, who must justify their recommendation in a letter of support.

Candidates must be citizens of one of the specified nations and work in that country.

Scholarship Worth

A MENA scholarship is a financial contribution to the expenses of the chosen short course, and it is designed to complement the scholarship holder’s pay while he or she is studying.

The following are covered by the scholarship:

  • subsistence allowance
  • international travel costs
  • visa costs
  • course fee
  • medical insurance
  • allowance for study materials.

The allowances are thought to be adequate to cover one person’s living costs for the duration of their studies.

Any extra expenses must be paid out of pocket by the scholarship recipients.

Eligible Countries

Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Libya, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, and Tunisia.

Eligible Courses/Programme

An MSP scholarship may be used for a variety of short courses in one of the following disciplines of study:

  • Economics
  • Commerce
  • Management and Accounting
  • Agriculture and Environment
  • Mathematics
  • Natural sciences and Computer sciences
  • Engineering
  • Law Public Administration
  • Public order and Safety
  • Humanities
  • Social sciences
  • Communication and Arts

How to Apply for MENA Scholarship Programme

  • You must apply directly to the university of your choice in the Netherlands.
  • Check whether you fall into one of the above-mentioned target categories.
  • Check with your employer to see if they will nominate you.
