Kofi Annan Award for Innovation Potential African Entrepreneurs 2021

The Austrian Federal Chancellery together with the Kofi Annan Foundation, the World Food Programme Innovation Accelerator, and the Austrian Development Agency invites applications for the Kofi Annan Award for Innovation in Africa in 2021.

Africa will have the world’s biggest labor force by 2035.

Africa will account for more than half of the global population increase by 2050.

Africa is at the vanguard of the digital economy, with a rapidly rising and youthful population.

Africa already has one of the greatest rates of entrepreneurship in the world, with African women twice as likely to start a company than women in other parts of the globe.

This expansion will offer both obstacles and possibilities in equal proportion.

The Kofi Annan Award for African Innovation aims to increase awareness of the potential of African entrepreneurs to meet the Sustainable Development Goals while also honoring the late Kofi Annan’s legacy and dedication to a more fair and equitable society.

  • As a finalist, you may earn up to EUR 250,000 in funding and participate in a 12-month accelerator program.

Kofi Annan Award for Innovation Requirement

The following criteria will be used to assess and choose innovations:

The

  • An idea has the potential to improve the health and well-being of a certain group of people.
  • The project has a scalable product/service that generates consistent income and a scalable finance plan.
  • Members of the team have appropriate expertise, are dedicated to the project, and can put the solution into action.
  • A new technology, a new strategy to using existing technology, a new procedure, or a new business model to solve a problem is referred to as an idea.
  • In terms of income, consumers, investments, or awards, innovation has produced proven outcomes.

All submissions for the Kofi Annan Award for African Innovation must be submitted via the official website.
