King Hassan II Great World Water Prize 2022
The King Hassan II Great World Water Prize 2022 is officially accepting applications. The Hassan II Great World Water Prize is regarded as one of the most important and well-known awards in the world.

It helps to raise worldwide awareness and take actual steps to forward the cause of water.
This Prize, co-founded by the Kingdom of Morocco and the World Water Council, honors His Majesty the late King Hassan II legacy and strategic vision for his country’s sustainable integrated water resource management in addressing the Kingdom’s water security.
This prize is given out every three years during the World Water Forum’s opening ceremony.
2022 Theme for King Hassan II Great World
Water security in territories for sustainable development and food security has been selected as the focus for this year.
The goal is to achieve water security on a territorial level across the globe, allowing for sustainable and equitable population growth while conserving the environment, maintaining population health, and encouraging agricultural policies that support food security.
After Kyoto in 2003, Mexico City in 2006, Istanbul in 2009, Marseille in 2012, Daegu-Gyeongbuk in 2015, and Brasilia in 2018.
The Prize will be presented for the seventh time on March 21, 2022, during the 9th World Water Forum in Dakar, Senegal.

Prize
- The winner will get a reward of $500,000 USD.
- The winner receives a trophy and a diploma, as well as worldwide recognition and awareness.
- The Prize may be given to a person, a group of people, an institution, or an organization that the Jury members believe has made a significant contribution to water security and climate justice via any project, initiative, creative experience, or research activity or project.
- Scientific, economic, technological, environmental, social, institutional, cultural, or political contributions are all possible.
Eligibility for King Hassan II Great World
- The Prize may be given to a person, a group of people, an institution, or an organization that the Jury members believe has made a significant contribution to water security and climate justice via any project, initiative, creative experience, or research activity or project.
- Scientific, economic, technological, environmental, social, institutional, cultural, or political contributions are all possible.
Evaluation Criteria

The King Hassan II Great World Water Prize recognizes a candidate’s exceptional abilities and accomplishments in sectors related to the Prize’s topic.
Such excellence might take the shape of a long-term project or the accomplishment of a spectacular one-time feat.
The candidate’s country, gender, language, occupation, or religion will not be considered.
Nomination
Nominators and nominees are encouraged to fill out the online submission form to submit a nomination for the King Hassan II Prize.
This may be done by both nominators and nominees.
