Joyce Nield Scholarship for MA Creative Writing at Manchester Metropolitan Uni in UK 2022

For students starting the program in September 2022 or January 2023, the Manchester Writing School at Manchester Metropolitan University is accepting applications for the Joyce Nield Scholarship in 2022/2023.

Joyce Nield Scholarship

A student from a non-UK Commonwealth nation will be eligible for the award, which will cover the cost of an MFA or MA in Creative Writing.

The Literatures of the Commonwealth Festival, which was held at Manchester Metropolitan University in 2002, was co-directed by Joyce Nield and Michael Schmidt. Scholarships for students from the Commonwealth studying at the Manchester Writing School were established as a lasting legacy of the festival in honor of James Joyce.

Worth of Scholarship

If you are accepted, you will get a tuition waiver for one 30-credit course from your program of study, regardless of whether you are enrolled full-time or part-time, on-campus or online.

When applying for this scholarship, you must:

Be a national of a Commonwealth country other than the United Kingdom

How to Apply for the Joyce Nield Scholarship

Apply for an MFA or MA in Creative Writing as soon as possible;

If you are accepted into the master’s program, please send an email to [email protected] with the subject line “Joyce Nield Scholarship application” outlining your nationality and how you fit the requirements for being a successful candidate (as detailed below).

Students accepted into the Master of Arts in Creative Writing program at the Manchester Writing School will be asked to behave as “Masters Scholars” and contribute little, but meaningfully, to the school’s learning community. Examples of this type of activity include: organizing a seminar or workshop; representing the university at a conference; collaborating with one of our partner organizations on a pilot project or placement; promoting Manchester Writing School activities to other members of the university community, including undergraduate students.
