JFUNU PhD in Sustainability Science Scholarship at United Nations University in Japan 2022

For the academic year 2022/2023, the United Nations University’s Institute for Advanced Study of Sustainability in Science (UNU-IAS) is accepting applications for the JFUNU PhD in Sustainability Science Scholarship.

The United Nations University Center for Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS), situated in Tokyo, Japan, is a premier research and teaching institute. Its goal is to help people work toward a more sustainable future. This is something it wants to do through policy-oriented research and capacity building. The focus is, as one might expect, on sustainability, including its social, economic, and environmental elements.

The Sustainability Science PhD program is a three-year program.

Its goal is to educate academics who will go on to become important researchers in the field of sustainability science. As a result, it takes a unique approach to sustainability, aiming to improve knowledge of the challenges by embracing global change views. Worth of Scholarship

  • In reality, for a maximum of 36 months, the JFUNU scholarship grants a monthly allowance of 120,000 JPY for living costs.
  • However, the student is responsible for all travel expenditures to and from Japan, as well as visa processing fees and health/accident insurance charges.
  • Fortunately, the scholarship recipients are exempt from paying tuition.

JFUNU PhD in Sustainability Science Scholarship | Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following criteria in order to be considered for this scholarship:

  • Those who are currently on a work visa in Japan are ineligible for the scholarship.

  • exhibited dedication to learning about and understanding global concerns;
  • a Master’s degree in a field connected to sustainability research;
  • After completing a university degree, a minimum of 2 years of practical field experience relating to UNU-IAS research areas is required.
