  • Degree in a related field with a First Class or Second Class Upper.
  • As a Direct Entry candidate, you must buy the Direct Entry form from the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and your school.
  • At least a Merit Pass in the National Certificate of Education (NCE), National Diploma (ND), and other Advanced Level Certificates.
  • Other qualifications that are acceptable to the Senate of your chosen university and are the same as (1) and (4) above.
  • In addition to the minimum requirements listed above, candidates must also meet these Faculty/Department requirements.

Universities Requirements for Philosophy Direct-Entry Applicants

AAUA needs two (2) “A” level subjects or an ND in Law, Religious Studies, or Philosophy from an approved institution or NCE merit.

AAU accepts either two “A” level passes with three “O” level credit passes or three “A” level passes with two “O” level credit passes.

AUGUSTINE accepts ND credit/NCE merit in relevant programs/subjects plus five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes or equivalent.

BSU accepts “A” level passes or NCE, as long as they include African Religion, CRS, or something similar.

BOWEN accepts two (2) A-level passes in any subject and Philosophy.

UNI-IBADAN needs two (2) “A” level passes, one of which must be in the arts and the other in any other social sciences, arts, or sciences.

UNICAL needs any two (2) “A” level passes, but they must be in subjects that are relevant.

SAU accepts two (2) A-level subjects, one of the subjects must be Government, and any two (2) other Arts subjects, or an NCE in History or Government.

UNIUYO also needs merit or credit level passes in two (2) A-level subjects or an NCE or ND in a related subject or program.

OAU needs two (2) “A” level passes, one (1) of which should be in the Arts.

UNILAG needs three (3) very good passes in JUPEB/A-level subjects: i. Any three (3) of Igbo/Yoruba, Literature in English, CRS/IS, History, French, Economics, Physics, Government, Chemistry, Biology, but at least one (1) Arts subject.

Both EBSU and OOU want you to have an “O” level pass in math.

NDU needs at least two (2) “A” level passes in relevant subjects and three (3) “O” level passes, one of which must be in math.

There is no direct entry for EKSU, UNIPORT, and IMSU.
