IWMF Kim Wall Memorial Fund 2022
The IWMF Kim Wall Memorial Fund 2022 is now accepting applications.
The Kim Wall Memorial Fund at the IWMF will provide funds to journalists whose work exemplifies Kim’s spirit of reporting.
The International Women’s Media Foundation (IWMF), in collaboration with Kim’s family and friends, has established the Kim Wall Memorial Fund to ensure that the sorts of stories Kim loved to be written in the future.
Kim introduced incredibly interesting people others overlooked, whether reporting on Cuba’s underground market for digital content and culture, how the politics of opportunity played out inside Kampala’s emerging Chinatown or the extent to which women Tamil Tiger combatants in Sri Lanka were let down by promises of a feminist utopia.
The Memorial Fund will assist other women with Kim’s adventurous spirit in tracking down these crucial, under-reported tales.
The funding will support female or non-binary journalists who cover subculture in general, as well as what Kim referred to as “the undercurrents of revolt.”
The Kim Wall Memorial Fund was established to memorialize Kim’s desire for more women to go out in the world, brushing up against life.
