International Student Scholarship at the University of Alabama in the USA 2022

The University of Alabama is currently offering an international student scholarship for the 2022/2023 academic year.

International Student Scholarships

This significant scholarship program is for students who will be attending the main campus in the autumn semester.

Some designated automatic merit-based scholarships will be available to international incoming first-time freshmen admitted before March 1, who have a qualifying composite ACT score or total SAT score (critical reading and math scores only) by the end of February and have at least a 3.0 cumulative high school GPA through December of their senior year.

Worth of Award

A student with a 4.0 GPA and a 36 ACT or 1600 SAT will be selected as a Presidential Elite Scholar and will receive:

  • Tuition for degree-seeking undergraduate and graduate students, as well as law students, for up to four years.
  • On-campus lodging for one year at the standard room fee.
  • Stipend of $1,000 each year for four years.
  • a one-time stipend of $2,000 to be used for summer research or overseas studies (after completing one year of study at UA).
  • $500 each year for four years, for a total of $2,000 in book scholarships.
  • Please have the testing agency provide standardized test results directly to The University of Alabama.

International Student Scholarship Requirements

In terms of educational preparation, the minimal unit requirements for normal admittance to a college preparatory program are as follows:

  • 4 English classes
  • 4 social science units, including global history or a similar course (second foreign language will satisfy one of the four required social science requirements)
  • 3 mathematics units (must include algebra I, algebra II, and one unit of either geometry, trigonometry, or calculus)
  • 3 units of natural science, including two lab-based courses.
  • 1 foreign language unit
  • a total of 5 more academic units (We recommend courses in fine arts or computer literacy, with additional courses in mathematics, natural sciences, and foreign language)

How to Apply for International Student Scholarship

  • The non-refundable $40 application fee must be paid using a credit or debit card.
  • On the following page, you’ll be prompted to create a login. To access your application, keep this login handy.
  • You may make modifications or edits to your application as long as you do not submit it. You will not be able to alter your submission once it has been submitted.
  • You may check the progress of your application online at any time.
  • It is necessary to provide a valid email address. Please be advised that this email address will receive confidential information about your application.
  • Within 48 hours of completing your application, you will get an email with a campus-wide identification (CWID) number. To access mybama, you’ll need your CWID.
  • This information will be forwarded to the email address you supplied if you forget your login or PIN.
  • After 20 minutes of inactivity, your session will expire.
  • Please contact the specified numbers if you have any difficulties or need help with the application.

Deadline: The deadline for the Fall semester (August – December) is May 1. The deadline for the Spring semester (January – May) is October 1 while the deadline for the Summer semester (June -August) is March 1.
