Why Private Universities Lecturers Earn More

As seen from the salaries of lecturers in Nigeria above a Nigerian professor is paid far more than other grades of lecturers in Nigeria.

In Nigeria, the salary of only a handful of civil servants could match theirs.

It is not shocking that many graduates are trying so hard to get lecturing positions in Nigeria.

However, private universities pay higher salaries to their lecturers than both state and federal-owned universities.

This does not mean that the workload of being a lecturer in a Nigerian university is not a tiring job.

The duty of a lecturer requires passion, effort, sacrifice, and discipline.

Asides from the fact that professors earn a huge amount of salary, they still do part-time lecturing jobs in other universities.

Even though it was mostly private universities that were mentioned here, some public universities still pay their lecturers handsomely for their work. 

The University of Lagos (UNILAG), is from N116,000 to N125,000 on average before the minimum wage was increased this 2021.
