The Henry Nxumalo Foundation and the African Investigative Journalism Conference (AIJC) are awarding funds to journalists in Kenya, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Uganda, and South Africa to explore health and development concerns in their respective nations.

The grants, which are funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, are designed to enable and encourage high-quality investigative reporting on health and development issues in African countries, as well as to expose roadblocks to health and development, and to provide journalists with the time and resources to do so.

  • The amount of the grant will vary based on the extent of the study, and the work must be finished within three months.

Henry Nxumalo Foundation Grants Requirements

  • Any journalist or group of journalists is eligible to apply, and the work may be done in any format.
  • They choose work that is in the public interest, tries to uncover new facts, is in-depth and investigative, and employs novel methodologies, approaches, or technology.
  • Both experienced and novice journalists are encouraged to apply. They could be able to provide mentors to others who are less experienced.

Applicants should also include a curriculum vitae, a budget, and, if feasible, a letter of interest from a publisher or broadcaster.
