Geneva Challenge 2022. The 2022 Advancing Development Goals International Graduate Student Contest seeks to propose a new way to stop poverty
With the generous support of Ambassador Jenö Staehelin, the Graduate Institute launched the Advancing Development Goals Contest in 2014, an international competition for Master students, in order to stimulate reflection and innovation on development from a variety of disciplinary and contextual perspectives.
The goal is to collect theoretically based and pragmatic answers to a significant international development issue that result from interdisciplinary cooperation between three to five enrolled master students from anywhere in the globe.
The five finalist teams will be invited to Geneva for project displays and the award ceremony in November 2022 (subject to COVID-19 limits).
Five awards will be awarded, one in each of the categories listed below (based on UN statistics):
- Universities located in Africa
- Universities located in Asia
- Universities located in Europe
- Universities located in North America and Oceania
- Universities located in South America
- The ADG competition awards monetary prizes totaling 25,000 CHF.
- The winning project will get CHF 10,000; the second and third-place teams will receive CHF 5,000 each, and the third and fourth place teams will receive CHF 2,500 each.
Selection Criteria for Geneva Challenge 2022:
- Submissions are examined by an interdisciplinary academic steering group, which will choose three submissions per category to be published on the competition’s website, and then analyzed by an independent jury of professionals with backgrounds in academia, government, and the commerc
- Five finalists, one from each continent, will be invited to an oral presentation in Geneva, where they will defend their ideas and answer questions from the jury and the general audience (subject to COVID-19 limits; travel and lodging costs will be reimbursed).
- The finalists will also be invited to an awards event, which will include the announcement of the contest results as well as a high-level keynote
