Future Rising Fellowship Program for Young Leaders and Storytellers 2022

Future Rising Fellowship program: Future rising uses a narrative to emphasize the critical links between girls’ education and climate change.

A cohort of ten emerging leaders participates in the year-long virtual Fellowship program, which includes financial support and professional growth. These are young people aged 17 to 24 who are involved in storytelling initiatives that address gender equality, climate change, or environmental justice.

Fellows must create a narrative project that showcases their work or tells the story of girls or women who are innovating and working to alleviate the effects of climate change and environmental injustice during their time with the program.

Worth of Award

During your one-year Fellowship, you will:

  • Get financial, professional, and creative assistance.
  • Join a rapidly expanding worldwide community.
  • Participate in storytelling classes and weekly gatherings.
  • Make work that tells a story about gender equality and climate change.
  • In addition, each fellow will receive a $5,000 stipend and will be eligible to apply for a modest extra grant to cover direct project costs and supplies.

Requirements for the Future Rising Fellowship program

You are/have

  • from anywhere in the world
  • between the ages of 17 and 24 years old
  • Committed, creative, collaborative, and driven are just a few of the words that come to mind when thinking
  • You are a climate activist/conservationist/educator/community organizer with a narrative to share about girls’ education, gender equity, and climate justice OR you are a storyteller who is enthusiastic about gender equality and climate justice.
  • You’re either working on a project that uses the power of educated girls and women to help communities develop climate resilience, or you’re sharing a narrative about empowered girls and women leading efforts to improve sustainability and resilience in their communities.
  • capable of adhering to the Fellowship’s timetable.
  • access to the internet in order to participate in frequent virtual gatherings and connect with Future Rising staff and fellows.

These are some examples of the kinds of tales that could be considered:

Stories about

  • Local initiatives to mitigate climate change consequences are being led by girls and women.
  • the consequences of food and water scarcity
  • the effects of local climate change on women and girls.
  • Girls and women who are securing food and water in their communities by inventing or leading.
  • Other tales include those that focus on
  • indigenous knowledge and solutions based on nature
  • environmental justice and food and water access challenges — in both rural and urban environments
  • Whether in a rural or urban area, local climate crisis challenges exist.
  • Food and water shortages have indirect or hidden links to the lives of girls, especially negative gendered practices like child marriage.
