Funded WRoCAH Postgraduate Studentship in Arts and Humanities Open Competition Scholarships in the UK are currently accepting applications for the academic session 2022/2023.
For the academic year 2022/23, the AHRC-funded WRoCAH will provide two kinds of studentships: Open Competition and Collaborative Doctoral Award (CDA).
WRoCAH is in charge of distributing AHRC-funded studentships and coordinating the doctorate training program for York, Leeds, and Sheffield.

The White Rose College of the Arts and Humanities Open Competition scholarships, supported by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, are ideal for student-led PhD projects that fall within the AHRC’s ambit of:
- Histories,
- Cultures and Heritage,
- Creative and Performing Arts, and
- Languages and Literature.
Funded WRoCAH Postgraduate Studentship Requirements
- International (including EU) and UK (home) students are eligible for this scholarship.
- Students may apply for financing in one of three ways: via an open competition in York, Leeds, or Sheffield.
- All departments are invited to submit projects as long as the study fits within the AHRC’s scope.
- All students are entitled for a full award, which includes tuition and a stipend equivalent to the UKRI Home level. The difference between the home and international fee rate will be covered by the University for applicants who are due for foreign fees.
- You should have the following skills by the time you begin your PhD program: a first or 2:1 honours degree, or a comparable qualification, and a master’s degree

How to Apply: Applicants may apply for the White Rose College of the Arts and Humanities (WRoCAH) Postgraduate Studentship by filling out an online application.
At least one month before the studentship application deadline, submit an application for a PhD program.
- You will get a 9-digit ID number up to 48 hours after submitting your PhD application. This is the number you’ll need to apply for a studentship.
- You should also schedule time to talk with your supervisor about your studentship application.
