Emile Boutmy Scholarship at Sciences Po – USA (2022)

The Emile Boutmy Scholarship 2022 is now accepting applications.

The Émile Boutmy fellowship, named after Sciences Po’s founder, was established to attract the top foreign students from outside the European Union.

Emile Boutmy Scholarship

The Émile Boutmy Scholarship is given to outstanding candidates whose profiles align with Sciences Po’s admissions criteria as well as unique course requirements.

The Émile Boutmy scholarship fund is made possible by the generous assistance of its sponsors (benefactors, corporations, and foundations) who want to ensure that the most deserving overseas students have the opportunity to study at Sciences Po.

During formally organized events, private sponsors may make direct contact with scholarship recipients.

Requirement for Emile Boutmy Scholarship 2022

Scholarship for Undergraduates

The Émile Boutmy Undergraduate Scholarship is available in a variety of formats:

  • An €13,000 per year tuition subsidy for the three years of the undergraduate program.
  • An €8,800 per year tuition subsidy for the three years of the undergraduate degree.
  • An €6,000 per year tuition subsidy for the three years of the undergraduate degree.
  • An €3,600 per year tuition subsidy for the three years of the undergraduate degree.

Scholarship for Master’s Degree

  • The Émile Boutmy program is a €12,200 per year tuition stipend that pays a portion of the Master’s degree tuition expenses for two years.

Eligibility for Emile Boutmy Scholarship 2022

To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be first-time applicants, from a non-European Union state, whose family does not pay taxes inside the European Union, and who have been accepted to the Undergraduate or Master’s program.

  • Students that are not eligible are
    Swiss and Norwegian candidates, so they may be qualified to CROUS scholarships
  • Candidates that have dual citizenship, including an EU citizenship
  • Candidates from Quebec for master’s degree (because they may take advantage of sliding scale costs same as European candidates) (since they may take advantage of sliding scale fees same as European applicants). Candidates from Quebec for a bachelor’s degree are eligible
  • Master’s level dual-degree applicants. Only candidates for the following dual degrees are eligible:
  1. the joint degree in Journalism Sciences Po/Columbia University
  2. the joint degree Sciences Po/Fudan University with the emphasis Europe-Asia in Global Affairs (only candidates with Chinese nationality) (only applicants with Chinese nationality)
  3. the combined degree Sciences Po/Peking University (only candidates with Chinese nationality) (only applicants with Chinese nationality)
  4. BAMA ITAM
  • Ph.D. program students (thesis)
  • Candidates for the 1 year Master’s programs
  • Bachelor dual degree candidates (unless as part of a specific agreement)
  • Exchange students
  • Candidates applying via the French graduate admission procedure

Application

  • Undergraduate Applicants from international secondary schools must mention that they are applying to the Émile Boutmy scholarship in the “Financial information” part of their Sciences Po application

    Note that they could require applicants to give proof of income and papers indicating their family circumstances (e.g. income tax return for both parents, payslips, divorce certificate, unemployment benefits, paperwork connected to alimony, child support, or retirement pensions, death certificate…).

  • Undergraduate Applicants from French secondary schools must apply by contacting the Admissions Office by email, once enrolled in Sciences Po. This email should contain your CV as well as the following information:
  • Indicate the country in which you are resident for tax purposes 1
  • Indicate the country in which you are resident for tax purposes 2 (optional)
  • Total annual income (in euros) of the household from the year before last
  • The number of financially dependent children in the household (including yourself)?
  • Are any of your siblings currently pursuing higher education?
  1. Note that they might ask applicants to provide proof of income and documents explaining their family situation (e.g. income tax return for both parents, payslips, divorce certificate, unemployment benefits, documents related to alimony, child support, or retirement pensions, death certificate…).
  • Masters level applicants must mention that they are applying to the Émile Boutmy scholarship in the “Financial information” part of their Sciences Po application.
