DAAD Scholarships at RIPS for Africans at University of Ghana 2021

The University of Ghana is inviting applications for the DAAD Regional Institute for Population Studies (RIPS) Scholarships for Sub-Saharan African countries in 2022.

RIPS is a key institution in Anglophone Africa for the training of population scientists and the creation of high-quality research in population and allied fields to address development concerns in Ghana and beyond.

Worth of Award for DAAD Scholarships

The DAAD scholarship will cover the following expenses:

  • Tuition,
  • Stipends
  • and housing for students pursuing a one-year Master of Arts (MA) or a four-year Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

Eligibility

Applicants must have completed a three-year or four-year academic program.

a bachelor’s degree and achieved above-average performance (minimum of second class upper division)

  • Demonstrate clear motivation and a strong commitment.
  • Have a good understanding of the instructional language
  • At the time of application, they must have finished their final university degree within the past six years.
  • At the time of application, they must have finished their final university degree within the past six years.
  • Must be citizens or permanent residents of a country in Sub-Saharan Africa.

How to Apply for DAAD Scholarships at

The application process contains two steps. Please be aware of the two application deadlines:

First step:

  • Applicants must apply to study at the University of Ghana’s Regional Institute for Population Studies.
  • When admissions open, all selected students should apply to the University of Ghana.
  • More information is available on the University of Ghana’s website at www.ug.edu.gh.

Second step:

Documents to be posted to the DAAD platform are as follows:

  • Completed DAAD application form (available on the DAAD-Portal)
  • Hand-signed curriculum vitae, including a list of publications (please use the European specimen form at http://europass.cedefop.europa.eu) (if applicable).
  • Letter of recommendation from university professors (Master 1, Ph.D. 2)
  • Admission letter from the host university/institution/network
  • Certified copies of university diplomas and transcripts are available.
  • Letter of motivation (if relevant, including information on the intended research stay in Germany; see “Additional perks”)
  • A copy of the applicant’s passport is required.

Deadline: The candidate’s application should be submitted to RIPS on or before December 31st, 2022
