CJF Black Journalism Fellowship Program 2022
The CJF Black Journalism Fellowship Program 2022 is now accepting applications.
This initiative intends to increase the visibility of black voices in the media, enhance news coverage of black concerns, and develop future black media leaders in Canada’s major media and community outlets.
The CJF-CBC/Radio-Canada Black Fellowship, the CJF-CBC/Radio-Canada Black Women’s Fellowship, and the CJF-CTV News Fellowship will all provide a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for an early-career black journalist (one to five years’ experience) to be hosted for six months at a CBC/Radio-Canada (English and French) or CTV News newsroom across the country.

Benefits for CJF Black Journalism Fellowship Program
Applicants who are chosen will:
- Spend six months at a newsroom throughout the country for the CBC/Radio-Canada (English and French) or CTV News;
- Receive guidance and instruction in a range of areas, including as video and audio editing, writing, research, and investigative reporting;
- For the period of their Fellowship, they will receive a full-time stipend;
- During their fellowship, they will write or create a story or segment that will be considered for publication or broadcast by the CBC, Radio-Canada, or CTV News.
CJF Black Journalism Fellowship Program Requirements
- Black Canadian journalists with one to five years of experience are eligible to apply.
- Employees of CBC News/Radio-Canada or CTV News who work full-time are not eligible to apply.
- CBC News/Radio-Canada or CTV News casual or contract personnel are eligible to apply.
Successful candidates must be willing to move.
