The CARN Aspire Grant Program 2022 is now accepting applications.
The Conservation Action Research Network (CARN) Aspire Grant Program awards competitive research funds to African graduate students and early career professionals working in the Congo Basin region in the fields of biodiversity, conservation, and environmental sustainability.
In 2014, CARN launched the Aspire Grant Program to assist and encourage young African scientists to pursue innovative conservation research and management activities that address the Congo Basin’s urgent threats to wildlife, biodiversity, and ecosystem health. These modest scholarships are especially important because they may help young African academics become self-sufficient by providing “bridge financing” that enables them to participate in bigger international venues. Small research grants will, above all, motivate and make it possible for young Africans to stay involved in their research and practice their skills in their home countries.
The highest amount of money that may be given out is $5,000.
