Belgium Government Masters Training Scholarships 2022
For the academic year 2022-2023, the call for applications for Belgium Government Masters Training Scholarships is now available.
Scholarships for master’s and training courses provide you with the opportunity to study for a one-year specialized master’s degree or a four- to six-month advanced training course at a higher education institution in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, Belgium.

Belgium Government Masters and Training Programmes Requirements
To make a legitimate request, the petitioner must:
- Applicants must be residents and work in their country of origin at the time of application in order to be considered.
- Benin, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cambodia, Cameroon, Cuba, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Haiti, Indonesia, Kenya, Madagascar, Morocco, Mozambique, Nepal, Niger, Peru, Philippines, Republic of Guinea (Conakry), Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Vietnam, and Zimbabwe.
- Hold a Belgian university credential equal to a graduate-level degree (300 ECTS) for advanced masters and continuing education courses (equivalent to Bac+5); Hold a certificate for advanced bachelors (equivalent to Bac+3) that is similar to an undergraduate level degree (180 credits ECTS). At the commencement of the course, the applicant must have held the applicable academic degree for a maximum of 20 years. Childbirth and/or adoption extend this maximum time by one year.
- After graduate studies for advanced bachelors, postgraduate studies for advanced masters, and continuing education courses, have at least two years of relevant professional experience in an ARES partner nation.
- Complete the application in the language in which the training will be delivered and testify to having a decent command of the language in both written and spoken form. Furthermore, acquiring a basic level of French facilitates assimilation into everyday life in Belgium.
- Only one training course should be applied for.

Application for Belgium Government Masters Training Scholarships
How to Apply: Applicants for the Belgium Government Masters and Training Programmes (ARES) Scholarships 2022-2023 must submit their applications entirely online.
It is completely free to apply for an ARES award.
At no point throughout the application or selection process does ARES charge any fees. Interested candidates should apply using the processes outlined below.
Please be aware that the application process is now conducted entirely online using the GIRAF platform.
- To begin, go here to register for a GIRAF account. Your account will be authenticated (from a few hours to a few days) and a confirmation email will be sent to you.
- Once your account has been verified, go to the Competitive Calls page in your GIRAF profile to access the application form. Please keep in mind that in GIRAF, you only need to click the “Start an application for masters and training programs” button once. Then, under the Competitive calls’ My tasks table, you’ll discover your application form.
- You can save and modify your form several times if you choose the “Save and edit later” option. Your form may be found in the My Tasks table of the Competitive Calls tab in GIRAF at any time.
- Your file is transferred to ARES as soon as you click “Submit my application,” and you can no longer alter it. It’s still available under My Submitted Files.
Application files will not be considered if they (are):
- incomplete;
- submitted by mail, e-mail, or fax The process is now completed fully online via GIRAF.
- submitted outside of the application period through GIRAF;
- are not done in the language of the training course;
- do not adhere to one of the form’s clearly stated eligibility requirements (certified copy of diploma, age, professional experience, etc.).
