The Beginning Investigator Grant for Catalytic Research 2022 is now accepting applications.

Beginning Investigator Grant

The BIG Cat program’s purpose is to help the next generation of African cancer researchers stay in their native nations and institutions while also contributing to Africa’s overall research and training capacity growth by creating evidence that will influence practice and policy.

BIG Cat was founded in 2010 by the National Cancer Institute Center for Global Health (NCI/CGH) in the United States, and it is now a collaboration between AORTIC, the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), and the NCI/CGH, with funding from academic, industrial, and scientific organizations.

Any field of cancer research, including fundamental research, clinical research, population-based research, and translational research throughout the cancer care continuum, may be recommended for funding (prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment, supportive and palliative care, and survivorship).

Grant

  • Each grant will provide $55,000 over two years for research project expenses, such as salary and benefits for the grant recipient and any collaborators, postdoctoral or clinical research fellows, graduate students (including tuition costs), and/or research assistants, research/laboratory supplies, equipment, publication charges for manuscripts that are directly related to the funded project, and other research expenses.
