Bayer Foundation Fellowships 2022 for Masters, PhD & Medical Students (up to €10,000)

The Bayer Foundation Fellowships 2022 is now accepting applications.

These scholarships are intended to promote cross-border and cross-organizational multidisciplinary contact and collaboration, as well as provide unique possibilities for personal and professional growth.

They have three scholarships available for exceptional masters, PhD, and medical students to participate in international research projects, internships, and other opportunities. These fellowships are intended to supplement existing study programs by giving financing for abroad postings or research activities that complement current or future scientific pursuits.

The following are the three fellowships available:

  • Otto Bayer Fellowships in Drug Discovery Sciences
  • Jeff Schell Fellowships in Agricultural Sciences
  • Carl Duisberg Fellowships in Medical Sciences

Scholarship

Applicants can receive up to €10,000 in funding and can participate in fellowships that last anywhere from two weeks to six months. Those studying in Germany must complete a placement in a second country, while those studying abroad must complete their fellowships in a German research organization.

Any other grant or fellowship source can be paired with Bayer Foundation Fellowships.

Funding can be utilized for initiatives that last no more than six months.

Bayer Foundation Fellowships 2022 | Eligibility Criteria

Fellowships in Drug Discovery Sciences named after Otto Bayer: Applicants must be pursuing an MSc or PhD (or equivalent) in natural science, pharmacy, or data science at the time of application.

Postdoctoral researchers and bachelor’s students are not eligible.
Jeff Schell Agricultural Sciences Fellowships: Applicants must be pursuing an MSc or PhD (or equivalent) in natural science or data science at the time of application.

Postdoctoral researchers and bachelor’s students are not eligible.
For Carl Duisburg Medical Sciences Fellowships: Applicants must be pursuing a degree in human or veterinary medicine, or a master’s or doctoral degree (or equivalent) in medical engineering, applied medical sciences, public health, or medical data science.

Medical engineering, applied medical science, public health, and data science bachelor’s students and postdoctoral researchers are not eligible.

Evaluation Process and Criteria

  • The Bayer Foundation will conduct an initial screening of applications to verify that they are complete and meet the application criteria.
  • An independent jury of scientists will next assess and rate the applications.

The following are the primary assessment criteria:

  • The application’s fundamental quality and relevance
  • The applicant’s motivation and potential
  • The fellowship’s worth to the candidate

Additional requirements:

Proposals that are collaborative and/or transdisciplinary are strongly desired.
