Anzisha Prize for Young African Entrepreneurs is for young African entrepreneurs.

For over ten years, the Anzisha Prize has been a venture-building fellowship program that has effectively supported and championed relatively young entrepreneurs.

The fellowship is a three-year program that recognizes and rewards entrepreneurial success.

The initiative will track the firm and the entrepreneur’s success over the period of three years.

Benefits and services such as short courses, cloud services, and cash stipends are offered to businesses that demonstrate exceptional development and initiative.

Entrepreneurs will present their ideas and accomplishments at the conclusion of the second year for a chance to earn a share of $140,000 in rewards.

Categories

The Grand Prizes are split into 4 categories

  • The Prize for Job Creation
  • Prize for Revenue Growth
  • Prize for Storytelling
  • Prize for Integrating Systems and Processes

The fellows will graduate and join the Anzisha Prize alumni network at the completion of the three-year program.

Prizes

  • In the first and third years of the fellowship, qualifying fellows will receive bi-annual cash stipends.
  • For qualifying fellows in Years 2 and 3, there are short-term educational opportunities, internships, and specialized technical expert consultations.
  • The Job Creation Prize is given to the Year 2 entrepreneur who has generated the most jobs since entering the fellowship.
  • The Revenue Growth Prize is given to the entrepreneur who has grown his or her firm the most in Year 2 since joining the fellowship.
  • The Storytelling Prize is given to the entrepreneur in Year 2 who has used written, oral, and visual storytelling to creatively express and spread their business narrative.
  • Systems and techniques for integration Prize Is given to the Year 2 entrepreneur that has successfully implemented systems and procedures to enhance their company concept.

Eligibility for Anzisha Prize for Young African Entrepreneurs

  • To offer as proof, you must be between the ages of 15 and 22 and have a valid ID or passport. Anyone born before September 1, 1998, or after August 31, 2006, will be excluded from the competition.
  • You must be an African national who runs a business in Africa for African consumers or beneficiaries.
  • The Anzisha Prize is not given out for brilliant ideas or company plans; instead, you must have already begun and be able to demonstrate it.
  • Individuals who apply must be one of the company’s original members (for example, 2 or 3 co-founders who started up the project together).

To be selected as one of the Anzisha ventures, your business or project will be judged on the following 5 criteria:

  • Is your business well-established with consumers and beneficiaries, and are you providing them with value?
  • Are you, as the founder, in charge of leading and managing your company?
  • Is your business already making a difference?
  • Is your business, whether for profit or for a good purpose, already making money or reaching out to people? Is it possible to improve income or beneficiary reach with Anzisha’s help?
  • Is there potential for more high-quality employment to be generated as a result of your venture?

To be selected as one of the Anzisha Fellows, you must demonstrate two important qualities:

  • You are the founder and CEO of your company, and you are in charge of both strategy and operations.
  • You devote at least 20 hours per week (or more) to your business and intend to do so after being chosen.
