The ALIWA Youth Leadership Program 2021 is now accepting applications.

This collaboration between the Africa Leadership Initiative West Africa (ALIWA) and the Public Affairs Section of the United States Embassy in Abuja aims to strengthen leadership ability, promote active citizenship, and mobilize grassroots influence by Nigerian youth in the community and state levels.

The ALIWA Youth Leadership Program (AYLP) – Nigeria, which is aimed at Nigerians aged 20 to 30, is a transformative 9-month leadership development program that aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills they need to build their leadership capabilities and achieve greater societal impact.

Participants are pushed to consider their own beliefs and views, as well as those that contribute to a decent society, more critically and profoundly.

They anticipate participants to leave this program with fresh insights as they face the country’s severe issues and decisions since it is both thought-provoking and practical.

Program Structure for ALIWA Youth Leadership Program

The program is structured into 3 parts:

Three (3) months of orientation with moderated seminars led by ALIWA Fellows.

A three-month vacation to put what you’ve learned and learned abilities into practice. Participants will be overseen and matched with mentors, and will be given additional readings as well as solo or group projects.

A last three (3) months of moderated seminars to reinforce the previous six months’ experience and equip participants to be change agents and leaders for the rest of their lives.

Eligibility

Young people (between the ages of 20 and 30) at the time of nomination are eligible.

Demonstrated leadership potential and a genuine commitment to serving others in their communities;

Capacity to interact with text that is both complicated and varied;

Applicants from Nigeria are welcome to apply;

Prepare yourself to devote time and effort to the program’s curriculum.

Applicants are to complete and submit the application form, along with the following application requirements, latest by November 7, 2021:

2 references and a recent CV

A two-minute video introducing yourself and describing a crisis or problem in society (or in your Nigerian community) that you are presently solving, as well as how this program might help you overcome those difficulties.
