Africana Futurism – Speculative Fiction from Africa

They’re interested in how Africans living on the continent today are investigating, navigating, and engaging with digital technology for this collection.

Pollicy considers literature to be a crucial medium for sharing and constructing their longings, wants, and identities. Exploring how Africans see technology now might help them better understand how to create technology that is both inclusive and empowering for everyone. These anecdotes will go a long way toward documenting Africans’ contributions to the advancement of technology in Africa. They embrace all types of fiction centered on the past, present, and future interaction between Africans and technology.

Prizes

The top three manuscripts will receive prizes, and the top 15 manuscripts will be approved for publishing in their collection.

  • 1st prize: US$1,000
  • 2nd prize: US$500
  • 3rd prize: US$250

Africana Futurism – Speculative Fiction from Africa | Eligibility Criteria

  • Africans from all across the world are welcome to submit;
  • At the time of application, applicants must be between the ages of 16 and 27.
  • Plagiarism is not tolerated at all.

Guidelines

  • Stories about Africa and Africans’ experiences with technology should be the emphasis.
  • Manuscripts should not exceed 5,000 words in length.
  • Manuscripts should be typed in Times New Roman 12-point font with 1.5 spacing.
  • Only doc and docx formats are accepted for submission.
  • Submissions must be previously unpublished works.
  • Each author should submit just one manuscript.
