African Climate Adaptation Innovation Challenge

The ACAIC is a project aimed at encouraging and empowering creative young African changemakers to make a difference in their communities, organized by 3 E’s 4 Africa in partnership with local partners GAYO and Start.Up Lounge Africa.

It’s a project idea competition with the goal of generating creative, sustainable, and commercially viable concepts for local climate change adaptation and assisting participants in turning those ideas into reality. In 2022, Ghana will host the inaugural edition of the ACAIC.

The ACAIC program includes training and seminars, as well as coaching and peer-to-peer (P2P) meetings with mentors and participants. The ACAIC curriculum and program is divided into four primary sections. Each module contains sub-topics that will be covered throughout the curriculum’s numerous training sessions. These are the modules:

  • Climate Change Adaptation & Sustainability
  • Empowerment & Community Relevance
  • Soft & Human Skills
  • Product & Business Development

African Climate Adaptation Innovation Challenge | Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant must be African
  • Being based in Ghana is a must;
  • Be between the ages of 18 and 30;
  • Have an idea for a long-term project relating to climate change adaptation;
  • Expert guidance and comments are sought.

How to Apply for the African Climate Adaptation Innovation Challenge

The top 15 applicants for the ACAIC Accelerator Program in summer 2022 will be chosen from all of the submissions. Several factors are considered, including the idea’s ecological and social added value, the team’s composition and motivation, and the practicality.
