African Development Bank (AfDB) Virtual Internship Program 2022

The African Development Bank (AfDB) Virtual Internship Program 2022 is now accepting applications.

The Internship program is part of a larger Talent Management Framework that helps the Bank meet its Ten-Year Strategy and High 5s objectives.

The African Development Bank (AfDB) was founded in 1964 and is the continent’s leading development organization, encouraging economic growth and social improvement. There are 81 members, 54 of whom are from Africa (Regional Member Countries). The Bank’s development strategy focuses on providing financial and technical assistance to transformative initiatives that would considerably decrease poverty by fostering inclusive and long-term economic growth.

Five primary sectors (High 5s) have been designated for scaling up in order to clearly concentrate the objectives of the Ten-Year Strategy (2013-2022) and assure stronger developmental effect, including energy, agro-business, industrialization, integration, and increasing the quality of life for Africans.

Program Objectives

The program’s broad aims are to:

  • Give students the chance to work at the African Development Bank and get professional and practical experience.
  • Provide a pool of possible applicants to the Bank for future recruitment.

Benefits

  • During their internship, interns will be covered by a medical insurance plan provided by the Bank.
  • A monthly stipend will be granted to eligible interns.

AfDB Virtual Internship Program 2022 | Eligibility Criteria

  • At the time of the internship program’s start, the applicant must have reached the age of majority in their country of nationality or origin and be under thirty (30) years old.
  • Be presently enrolled in a master’s degree program at a recognized public or private higher education institution.
  • Within one (1) year of receiving such a degree, the individual can apply for an internship.
  • Be citizens of one of the African Development Bank’s member countries.
  • Provide a copy of their diploma or a letter from their school proving their enrolment.
  • At least one of the Banks’ two working languages must be proficient in the applicant (English or French).
  • Knowledge of SAP is preferred. Be able to utilize the Bank’s standard software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).

Eligible fields:

Economics, Agriculture, Private Sector Development, Human Capital Development (Education and Health), Environment, Finance, Infrastructure Development, Human Resources Management, Information Technology, Communications, Law, Internal Audit, Budget, Governance, or any other field of study that the Bank may deem relevant to its operations must be among the fields of study from which interns are selected.

Students working on initiatives that have a direct influence on the Bank’s purpose will be given special attention.

Terms and Conditions

Each candidate will be offered an internship for a period of not less than three (3) months and not more than six (6) months. Each candidate is only allowed to do the internship once.

Interns will not be needed to travel to the duty site because of the current COVID-19 epidemic. The internship will be completed remotely from the interns’ homes. As a result, interns are required to have a personal computer, a stable internet connection, and a comfortable living environment that allows for seamless and uninterrupted remote work.

The Bank may permit on-site internships on an extraordinary basis in select situations, particularly if the functions and obligations to be allocated to interns cannot be fulfilled remotely. In such cases, you should:

  • Interns are responsible for their own air travel to and from the Bank’s location, as well as their own upkeep.
  • Only interns who have been completely vaccinated against COVID-19 will be allowed access to the Bank’s offices.
  • The Bank will make every effort to help the interns in acquiring their entrance and resident visas.
